RESOLUTION OF APPROVAL OF CLASS "C" BEER PERMIT APPLICATION
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY, IOWA, that a Class
"C" Beer Permit Application is hereby approved for the following named per-
son or persons at the following described locations:
Benner Tea Co., dba/Star Wholesale, 1213 South Gilbert
Said approval shall be subject to any conditions or restrictions hereafter
imposed by ordinance`or state law.
The City Clerk shall cause a recommendation for approval to be endorsed
upon the application and forward the same together with the license fee,
surety bond and all other information or documents required to the Iowa Beer
and Liquor Control pppartment

Traffic Signal Program on Burlington Street intersections with ,tadison

NOTICE TO BIDDERS
FOR THE FURNISHING OF EQUIPMENT FOR THE
1974 BURLINGTON STREET TRAFFIC SIGNAL PROGRAM
Sealed proposals will be received by the City Manager or his
authorized representative of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, until
10:00:,a.m, on the 9th day of May , 19 74 ,
and opened immediately thereafter. Proposals will be acted upon by
the City Council at a meeting to be held in the Council Chambers at
7:30 p.m. on May 14, 1974 , or at such later
time and place as.may then be fixed.
The proposed improvement project will consist of the furnishing and delivering
of traffic signal equipment for the following locations within the City of lowa City,
Iowa, to -wit:
Intersection of Burlington Street and Madison Street
Intersection of Burlington Street and Capitol Street
Intersection of Burlington Street and Clinton Street
Intersection of Burlington Street and Dubuque Street
Intersection of Burlington Street and Gilbert Street
The kinds of materials and estimated quantities of materials proposed to be

All work is to be done in strict compliance with the plans and specifications
prepared by George R. Bonnett, P.E., Acting Director of Public works of Iowa City,
Iowa, which have heretofore been approved by the.City Council, and are on file
for public examination in the office of the City Clerk.
Each proposal shall be made on a form furnished by the City and must be
accompanied by a check drawn on, and certified by, an Iowa Bank and filed in a
sealed envelope separate from the one containing the proposal, and in the
following amounts: Division 1,,$700.00; Division II, $1,000.00; Division ill,
$4,000.00; made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, and
may be cashed by the Treasurer of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, as liquidated
damages in the event the successful bidder fails, to enter into a contract within
ten (10) days and post bond satisfactory to the City insuring the faithful per-
formance of the contract. Checks of the lowest two or more bidders may be
retained for a period of not to exceed fifteen (15) days until a contract is
awarded or rejection made. Other checks will be retur.ied after the canvass and
tabulation of bids is completed and reported to the City Council.
Payment to the Contractor will be made in cash from such funds of the City
that may be legally used for such purposes thirty-one (31) calendar days after
delivery and acceptance by the City.
By virtue of statutory authority;: preference will be given to products a d
provisions grown and coal porduced within the State of Iowa, and preference will
be giver. to Iowa domestic labor in the construction of the improvement.
The successful bidder will be required.to'furnish a bond in an amount equal
to one hundred percent (10010) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by
a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the proapt
payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from
claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the contract.

The plans and specifications governing the construction of the proposed
improvements have been prepared by .George R. I Bonnett, P.E., Acting Director of
Public Works of Iowa City, Iowa, which plans and specifications, also prior
proceedings of the City Council referring to and defining said proposed im,rove-
ments are hereby made a part of this notice by reference and the proposed contract
shall be executed in compliance therewith.
The plans, specifications and proposed contract documents may be exanined
at the Office of the City Clerk. 'Copies of the said plans and specifications Pnd
form of proposal blanks may be secured -at the Office of George A. Bonnctt, P.%.,
Acting Director of Public Works of Iowa City, Iowa.
The City reserves the right'ot reject any or all proposals and to waive
technicalities and irregularities.

WHEREAS, plans, specifications and form of contract and an estimate of
the total cost of the following public improvement,
Six courts will be constructed adjacent to the Mercer Park
swimming pool
are now on file in the Office of the City Clerk, and
WHEREAS, notice of this Resolution of Necessity was duly published as
required by law, and
WHEREAS, the following objections have been filed to said Resolution of
Necessity,
NOW THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IOWA CITY,
IOWA:
1) That it is deemed advisable and necessary to construct certain- tat R[o
improvements, hereinafter described on the following se�ex�xxxxoaxx�exssx'cxidaa�a.
or portions thereof, within the City of Iowa City, Iowa, to -wit:
Asphaltic concrete tennis courts and chain link fencing along with
incidental grading and drainagefacilities in Mercer Park.
2) The type of improvement will be as above set out.
3) The method of construction will be by contract.
4) The cust.of the improvement shall•be.paid,for:an cash from such funds
of the City that may; be legally used; for such purposes on the basis of monthly
estimates in amounts I equal to ninety percent (90%) of the work accomplished
as outlined in the "Method of Payment".
