Proposals will be acted upon by the City Council at a meeting to be held in the Council Chambers at 7:30 p.m. on May 14, 1974 , or at such later time and place as.may then be fixed. The proposed improvement project will consist of the furnishing and delivering of traffic signal equipment for the following locations within the City of lowa City, Iowa, to -wit: Intersection of Burlington Street and Madison Street Intersection of Burlington Street and Capitol Street Intersection of Burlington Street and Clinton Street Intersection of Burlington Street and Dubuque Street Intersection of Burlington Street and Gilbert Street The kinds of materials and estimated quantities of materials proposed to be furnished are as follow1r: DIVISION I 1 each Pedestal Type Signal Pole 1 each Monolever Type Signal Pole 14 each Monolever Type Combination Street Light and Signal Pole DIVISION II 32 each 12 -inch, 3 -Section, One -Way Signal Heads with fittings and accessories 10 each 12 -inch, S -Section, One -Way Optically Programmed Signal Heads 16 each 9 -inch; 2 -Section, Two -Hay Pedestrian Signal Heads with fittings and accessories 10 each Rigid Mast Arm Signal Head Fittings DIVISION III - 4 each 5 -Phase, Full Actuated, Modular Controllers with various panels, relays, flasher unit, filter, control cabinet and miscellaneous items 1 each i 4 -Phase, Full Actuated, Modular Controller expandable to 8 -Phase with density type vehicle phase timing modules, various panels, relays, flasher unit, filter, control cabinet and miscellaneous items 1 each 3 -Phase, Full Actuated, Modular Controller expandable to 5 -Phase with various panels, relays, flasher unit - filter, control cabinet and miscellaneous items 1 each Traffic Adjusted Master Controller 28 each Pedestrian Push Buttons 5 each Local Coordination Units 25 each Loop Presence Detectors 1 lump sumSpare Backup Equipment for System All work is to be done in strict compliance with the plans and specifications prepared by George R. Bonnett, P.E., Acting Director of Public works of Iowa City, Iowa, which have heretofore been approved by the.City Council, and are on file for public examination in the office of the City Clerk. Each proposal shall be made on a form furnished by the City and must be accompanied by a check drawn on, and certified by, an Iowa Bank and filed in a sealed envelope separate from the one containing the proposal, and in the following amounts: Division 1,,$700.00; Division II, $1,000.00; Division ill, $4,000.00; made payable to the City Treasurer of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, and may be cashed by the Treasurer of the City of Iowa City, Iowa, as liquidated damages in the event the successful bidder fails, to enter into a contract within ten (10) days and post bond satisfactory to the City insuring the faithful per- formance of the contract. Checks of the lowest two or more bidders may be retained for a period of not to exceed fifteen (15) days until a contract is awarded or rejection made. Other checks will be retur.ied after the canvass and tabulation of bids is completed and reported to the City Council. Payment to the Contractor will be made in cash from such funds of the City that may be legally used for such purposes thirty-one (31) calendar days after delivery and acceptance by the City. By virtue of statutory authority;: preference will be given to products a d provisions grown and coal porduced within the State of Iowa, and preference will be giver. to Iowa domestic labor in the construction of the improvement. The successful bidder will be required.to'furnish a bond in an amount equal to one hundred percent (10010) of the contract price, said bond to be issued by a responsible surety approved by the City Council and shall guarantee the proapt payment of all materials and labor and protect and save harmless the City from claims and damages of any kind caused by the operation of the contract.
