easement for public highway purposes located along the southeast

Comment: The proposed Public Works Design"Standards*have been revised to
reflect input fziom_various coricerned citizen groups as well as the
staff of the'City ,of. Iowa City It:is'recommended that these
design standards be11 adopted;by motion and that the City Attorney
commence'work to revise the- :ordinances affected by the design
standards. This itemwas previously considered during the regular

The.Iowa-Illinois Gas and Electric Company has;submitted an applica-
tion for.construction on.highway right-of-way within the city limits
of Iowa City. The'application is -to the Iowa State Highway Commission,'
but before the Highway Commission will approve the application the
City must also give.its;approval. The 'work that Iowa -Illinois wishes
to do is`the`installation of -:380 lineal feet of 4" gas main on the
east.side of Highway 1 just north of the I-80 interchange.

Pursuant:to Chapter,569'of,the Code of Iowa, 1973, the Johnson County
Board of'_Supervisors has sold a:property acquired by a scavenger tax
sale, known as 821'I`Street :(Lot 7 Block 44, East Iowa City). The
highest bid:received.was-_$250.00. -This sum is; less than the delin-
quent taxes, interest,; and costs, 'etc. It is therefore necessary to
