CONSIDER RESOLUTION APPROVING PLANS AND SPECIFICATIONS, J
FORM OF CONTRACT FOR TWO COMPACT VANS FOR WATER DIVISION

AND SETTING DATE FOR RECEIVING BID;.
Comment:
This resoluiton approves the plans and specifications and
sets the date for receiving bids for two compact .vans for
use by the Water Division of, the Department of Public
Works.' The date for receiving bids will be Tuesday,
February 20, 1973, a.m. .This equipment will re-
,at'10:00
place two existing vans, one of which was purchased in
1968 and ,the other which was purchased in,1969. :.Funds-
were provided in -'the 1973 budget in" -the amount of,
$5,600,for the purchasei;of these'two'trucks. The staff,

Comment:
This resolution approves plans and specifications for the
trimming of approximately 600 trees on Iowa City streets.
Bids will `be -opened at 11:30 a.m. Februaryl,9, 1973. :The
amount of. $9,000.00 was budgeted for 1973 to cover this
project. The staff recommends adoption of the resolution.

REPORT ON'REQUEST FROM BRENDEN NOEL WARD FOR $500 GRANT

TO COVER OPERATIONS OF THE CHILDREN'S PLAYHOUSE.
Comment:
Mr. ward will be present at the January 16 Council
meeting to discuss this request. The 'staff would like
to bring Council's attention the fact that th'e

Department'of Parks and`Recreation is revitalizing a
well established,' program of similar nature. The Iowa
City YoungFootliters organized ,by,the City several
years ago after many years ofinstructionaltype,
programs,''isbeginning operation again later this month'.
A well qualified person to 'lead this group has been hired
and with :certain ire-alighment of funds, the program is
being financed as a part of the present budget without an

increase necessary. The 'staff recommends' that Council
turn this request'ofrom`Mr., Ward.
