Joint meeting with the Ad Hoc Truth and Reconciliation Commission Item postponed to later in the meeting. Johnson County Direct Assistance Program Mayor Teague gave a brief introduction to begin Council discussion on Johnson County Direct Assistance Program. Individual Council members expressed their views such as wanting to make sure all applicants receive funds, working with the County on assisting them with funding and discussing a 50/50 split with the County. Action: Staff will prepare a letter that will be sent to the Johnson County Board of Supervisors offering to split the cost (50/50) of the remaining eligible direct assistance applicants. The letter will request the County draft the appropriate amendment language for the existing subrecipient agreement. Joint meeting with the Ad Hoc Truth and Reconciliation Commission Ad Hoc Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) members present: Vice Chair Chastity Dillard, Daphney Daniel, Clifton Johnson, Kevin John Rivera, Mohamed Traore. Mayor Teague welcomed TRC Members. Vice Chair Dillard summarized the information from the draft proposal included in the 7/28/22 information packet (IP?). V. Fixmer Oriz, CEO/Planner Astig Planning answered questions from Council and provided an in-depth explanation of the two phases of the proposal. Individual Council members and TRC members expressed their views. Dr. Dave Ragland provided background on the work they are doing at Think Peace and answered Councilors questions. Clarification of Agenda items Councilor Weiner noted the item for the Housing Trust Fund contribution. Information Packet Discussion [July 14, July 21, July 281 July 14 — No discussion. July 21 1. (IP2: Memo from Police Chief& Fire Chief: 2022 Fireworks Calls for Service) Councilor Weiner mentioned the fireworks memo and urged community members to be considerate of neighbors who have PTSD, pets or small children. Individual Council members expressed their views. Action: As part of next year's proactive fireworks messaging, Communications should consider additional focus on negative impacts to people and animals (e.g. PTSD). Council Work Session July 12, 2022 Page 2 r July 28 1. (IP6: Memo from Assistant City Manager: 2022-23 Bow Hunt Program Update) Assistant City Manager Kilburg gave overview of the listening session and answered questions regarding the memo. City Manager Fruin provided additional information. Individual Council members expressed their views. 2. (IP1: City Council Tentative Meeting Schedule) Mayor Teague asked if there was a majority of councilors to support an agenda item to remove Ad Hoc Truth and Reconciliation Commission Chair Amel Ali, a majority agreed.
