Experience and/or activities which you feel qualify you for this position:
I have been a resident of the Coralville/Iowa City area since 2012. 1 served 2 terms on the Civil Service
Commission for the City of Coralville. (I also lived in the area between the years of 1991 and 1999.) 1 grew up on
a farm in Northeast Iowa. As a black woman who has lived most of her life in Iowa, and adult life in the Iowa
City/Coralville area, I have a variety of life experiences that can provide some insight to the group. As a former
Iowa Homeland Security and Emergency Management Project Specialist, I worked with the City on various
disaster projects to improve the community recovering from the storms that ravaged the area. I am committed to
making Iowa City a better place for not only myself and my daughter, but the community as a whole and make it
an example for the state and nation to emulate.
What is your present knowledge of each advisory board you are interested in?*
When I moved to Iowa City, my friend Chief Shane Kron recommended I look into this board because he felt I
would be an asset. I have watched from the sidelines and have read some of the articles in the papers. I feel that
the board has a long way to go to achieve its goal and I would like an opportunity to help.
