Direct Assistance Update — Conversations with Johnson County Mayor Teague provided an update on conversations with the Johnson County Board of Supervisors. Council discussed options of backfilling payments to Johnson County for the expenditures to Iowa City residents that the County paid or funding the full 319 applicants equaling $446,600 plus check processing fees of $9,432.83, totaling $456,032.83. Individual Council members expressed their views. American Rescue Plan Act State and Local Recovery Fund Update City Manager Fruin provided an update and highlighted the memo distributed in the August 11 Information Packet (IP4). Neighborhood Services Coordinator Kubly provided additional information. Individual Council members expressed their views. Action: Staff will place an ARPA update on the Pending Work Session List and continue with the plan for quarterly public ARPA updates in the Council Information Packets and on the website. (1P5: Pending City Council Work Session Topics) Councilor Weiner wanted to confirm the Land Acknowledgement item was still on the list. Councilor Alter asked if the Parks & Recreation Master Plan would come back to Council. City Manager Fruin provided information. University of Iowa Student Government (USG) Updates Ellie Miglin, USG Liaison and Keaton Zeimet, USG Alternate Liaison, presented USG Updates. Council updates on assigned boards, commissions, and committees Council members reported on various assigned boards, commissions, and committees. Adjourn 4:46 p.m.
