Experience and/or activities which you feel qualify you for this position:
I have been fighting for truth and reconciliation most of my life. How do we build a bridge from power structures
to empathy? How do we build a bridge from trauma to healing? I was trained by WRAC to facilitate Diversity
Dialogue Circles. I met with a group of community members to discuss issues based on race, gender, sexuality,
ability, and more. It was a safe space to explore their uncomfortable and vulnerable feelings, sometimes anger,
sometimes sadness, and explore factual information/research in order to learn. This work depends on people
who are self aware as we have all been indoctrinated with colonizer ideologies and we are all learning and
unpacking. I use the tools from my personal work to assist in working with others. This is messy work, and it's a
difficult road. I'm excited that it is happening and would love to learn from the group. I would like to offer my
empathy, intelligence, personal experience, objective reasoning skills, and general love for my community.
What is your present knowledge of each advisory board you are interested in?*
They work to make our community an inclusive and safe environment.
