The City of IOWA CITY will conduct a public hearing for the purpose of amending the current budget for fiscal year ending June 30. 2023

$3,438,000 for Senior Center Improvements, $4,502,000 for pavement rehab, $2,173,000 for American Legion Road, $1,028.000 for Melrose Ave
Improvements, $3,291,000 for Benton St Rehab, $6,111,000 for Rochester Ave Reconstruction, $1,247,000 for Dodge St Reconstruction. 31,235,000 for
Fairchild St Reconstruction and Enterprise Fund Projects: $1,000,000 Automated Parking Equipment, $1,740,000 annual sewar rnain projects. FY22

Budget Process Overview
■ FY2023 Original Budget was approved March 22, 2022. Runs July 1, 2022 to June
30, 2023.
■ City policy allows for amendments in the following situations:
- Emergent situations
- Transfer from contingencies
- Expenditures with offsetting revenues or fund balance
- Carry-over of prior year budget authority
■ Can amend anytime other than the last 30 days of the fiscal year.
■ Iowa City averages three amendments per fiscal year, typically in early fall, spring of
the followingyear and early summer of the followingyear.
■ The next planned amendment coincides with the FY2024 Budget Process to be
approved March 2023.
First Budget Amendment of FY2023
• Carry -forward requests from FY2022 Budget
- Submitted by Departments and reviewed by City Manager's
Office and Finance Department
- Budget policy that carry -forwards must be $5,000 or 1% of
division budget
- Capital Improvement Project budget carry -forwards
- CIP usually align more with calendar year vs fiscal year and
multiyear projects

NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING ON PROJECT MANUAL
AND ESTIMATED COST FOR THE 2022 TRAFFIC
RESTRIPING PROJECT IN THE CITY OF IOWA CITY,
IOWA
TO ALL TAXPAYERS OF THE CITY OF IOWA CITY,
IOWA, AND TO OTHER INTERESTED PERSONS:
Public notice is hereby given that the City Council of the
City of Iowa City, Iowa, will conduct a public hearing on the
Project Manual, including the plans, specifications, contract,
and estimated cost for the construction of the 2022 Traffic
Restriping in said city at 6:00 p.m. on the 20th day of
September, 2022, said meeting to be held in the Emma J.
Harvat Hall in the City Hall, 410 East Washington Street in
said city, or if said meeting is cancelled, at the next meeting
of the City Council thereafter as posted by the City Clerk.
This project includes the following 5.5 foot bike lanes
with a 2 foot buffer on Market Street and Jefferson Street,
Keokuk street will include a 5.5 foot bike lane, and
Southgate Avenue will have a 5.5 foot bike lane with a 1.5
foot buffer. and is located at various streets in Iowa City.
Said Project Manual and estimated cost are now on file
in the office of the City Clerk in the City Hall in Iowa City,
Iowa, and may be inspected by any interested persons.
Any interested persons may appear at said meeting of
the City Council for the purpose of making objections to and
comments concerning said Project Manual or the cost of
making said improvement.
This notice is given by order of the City Council of
the City of Iowa City, Iowa and as provided by law.
