Staff Recommendation: Approval Commission Recommendations: N/A Executive Summary: As directed by Title 9, Chapter 1, Section 3B of the City Code, this is to advise the City Council of the following action: Pursuant to section 9-1-3A (10) expand the existing No Parking Between Signs parking prohibition on the west side of Summit Street to a location approximately 50 feet south of the intersection with Court Street. Background / Analysis: This action is being taken to generally improve visibility at the intersection, including for pedestrians using the Summit Street crosswalk. Item Number: 8.b. Staff Recommendation: Approval Commission Recommendations: N/A Executive Summary: As directed by Title 9, Chapter 1, Section 3B of the City Code, this is to advise the City Council of the following action: Pursuant to section 9-1-3A (10) install (1) "No Parking Here to Corner" sign on the north side of Court Street approximately 50 feet from the intersection with Summit Street. Background / Analysis: This action is being taken in order to improve visibility for pedestrians crossing Court Street at the intersection with Summit Street. Background / Analysis: This action is being taken to establish an all -way stop at this intersection. The all -way stop is necessary to provide a safer environment for motorists traveling westbound due to the topography and limited visibility. Item Number: 8.e. Background / Analysis: This action is being taken to improve turning movements and safety at the intersection of Foster Road and Swisher Street. Item Number: 8.f. I i CITY OF IOWA CITY �fil COUNCIL ACTION REPORT January 2, 2024 Remove (2) on -street metered parking spaces and establish (8) "Moped and Motorcycle Permit Parking" spaces on the east side of South Dubuque Street, south of East Prentiss Street. Prepared By: Emily Bothell, Senior Associate Transportation Planner Reviewed By: Kent Ralston, Transportation Planner Jason Havel, City Engineer Mark Rummel, Transportation Services Associate Director Tracy Hightshoe, Neighborhood and Development Services Director Fiscal Impact: None Staff Recommendation: Approval Commission Recommendations: N/A Executive Summary: As directed by Title 9, Chapter 1, Section 3B of the City Code, this is to advise the City Council of the following action: Pursuant to Section 9-1-3A (10, 17); Remove (2) on -street metered parking spaces (meter number D602S) and establish (8) "Moped and Motorcycle Permit Parking" spaces on the east side of South Dubuque Street, south of East Prentiss Street. Background / Analysis: This action is being taken in conjunction with the installation of all -way stop control at the South Dubuque Street and East Prentiss Street intersection. The change in on -street parking will allow for improved visibility of the new stop sign for northbound motorists and provide additional moped/motorcycle parking for new and adjacent housing developments.
