PROCLAMATION
Whereas, the Free Lunch Program has been providing good food &
hospitality in our community for 20 years, and
Whereas, the Free Lunch Program relies completely on volunteers to
provide hearty & nutritious meals 6 days a week for an average of 100 of
our needy friends in the community
Whereas, the Free Lunch Program supplies not only meals but a place of
respite where the guests enjoy unconditional respect & hospitality
Whereas, we applaud & embrace this spirit of generosity, volunteerism, &
hospitality that makes our community unique.
Now, therefore, I, Ernest W. Lehman, Mayor of the City of Iowa City,
Iowa, do hereby proclaim May 2003 to be
Free Lunch Program Month
in Iowa City, and I hereby urge all citizens to participate in volunteer projects
throughout the year.
