Supporting Climate Action Goals: • Bath House is fully electric. Action Item BPP-3 in the Accelerating Iowa City's Climate Actions Plan calls for the acceleration of energy efficiency and electrification in municipal buildings. • Deploying heat pumps in the bath house meets both these goals and comes with notable co -benefits: the functioning of the heat pumps will also help dehumidify the building in the summer. • Tree cover is a limiting factor for rooftop solar panels. • Building heat pumps into the building design allows both benefit from the carbon sequestration of trees while fitting the right climate action to the needs and uses of the building. • Once completed, this will be the first fully electrified municipal facility.
