Permanent full-time position available
Full salary range: $54,516.80 – $69,950.40 (starting wage contingent upon experience)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 2:30pm – 11:00pm
Job summary:
Under general direction, performs basic service, maintenance and repairs of vehicles and equipment in the City
municipal fleet.
Minimum qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or two years of related experience and/or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Automotive/Diesel Mechanics. Experience in
auto/diesel mechanics, fleet maintenance, or related. Forklift certification required within 60 days of hire. Valid
State of Iowa driver’s license with a satisfactory driving record. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa
commercial driver’s license instruction permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class B commercial
driver’s license with air brake endorsement within 6 months of hire. Meet federal drug testing requirements.
Requires a pre-employment drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred qualifications:
Associate’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or three years
of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Entry-level Driver Training (ELDT) for employees who need to obtain a required CDL is provided by
the City. Employees are provided paid time to complete ELDT and to take required CDL tests.
