Executive Summary:
As directed by Title 9, Chapter 1, Section 3B of the City Code, this is to advise the City
Council of the following action:
Pursuant to Section 9-1-3A (10); Establish a "No Parking Monday - Friday 8:00 AM to 5:00
PM" parking prohibition on the west side of the 400 block of Clark Street, directly across from
Maple Street, for a length of 75 feet.
Background / Analysis:
This action is being taken at the request of the Resource Management Division to allow
refuse trucks and other large vehicles to safely turn from Clark Street onto Maple Street.
When vehicles park on Clark Street, directly across from Maple Street, it becomes difficult for
refuse trucks and other large vehicles to turn from Clark Street onto Maple Street, resulting in
ongoing rutting between the curb and the sidewalk.
The City investigated the possibility of expanding the concrete apron at Maple Street and
considered alternative parking prohibition options before deciding on the proposed parking
prohibition. This change will result in the loss of approximately two on -street parking spaces.
However, after conducting multiple observations, staff found that there is adequate on -street
parking available.
Adjacent households have been informed about the proposed change.
