Clarification of Agenda Items • [9.b]... Rezoning - ACT... City Attorney Goers noted a valid protest petition had been submitted, so a supermajority of six votes was needed to approve, regardless of how many council members are present. The developer had requested a deferral to the next meeting so all seven council members could be present. Goers recommended that, if the Council agrees to defer, they should open the public hearing and immediately vote to defer —before the public or staff presentations —so Mayor Teague wouldn't miss any key information. 2. Information Packet Discussion [March 13, March 20, March271 ➢ March 13 — No discussion. ➢ March 20 — No Discussion. ➢ March 27 1. (IP3 — Memo from City Manager: 21 S. Linn Update) Councilor Harmsen asked if City Manager Fruin could give an update to let the public know where they were in the process with 21 S Linn Street. City Manager Fruin provided information. 2. (IP4 — 2024-2025 IC Deer Management Annual Report) Councilor Alter asked if there had been any follow up for the possibility of a professional sharpshoot. Assistant City Manager Lehmann provided information. 3. (Late Handout - Pending List) Councilor Moe asked if there was interest to have a recap of the State legislative session and someone from the Civil Rights office to talk about the City's Civil Rights ordinance at a future work session. City Manager Fruin provided information. April 1, 2025 Page 2 Action: Staff will add the following to the Pending Work Session List with a target date of June: - Recap of the State of Iowa legislative session - Overview of the Iowa City Human Rights Ordinance 3. University of Iowa Student Government (USG) Updates. Ava Martinez, USG Alternate Liaison, presented updates. 4. Update from Think Iowa City Josh Schamberger, President at Think Iowa City + Iowa City Area Sports Commission, presented a PowerPoint on the following: • History - Mission - Structure - Funding • Board of Directors and Team Highlights • Visitor Impact: ROI • Innovative Sales & Marketing • Authentic Placemaking • Intentional Community Engagement • Regional Sports Authority Districts • Community & Economic Development Leadership Individual Council members asked questions and expressed their views. 5.
