We need your help to save Johnson County lives! Complete the survey below. Every year, over 436,000 lives are lost to sudden cardiac arrest_ However, communities with bystander CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) and AED (automated external defibrillator) programs are making a difference, The Rotary-Keber HeartSafe Community Campaign began in 2019 with a $10,000 Rotary grant and the goal to make Johnson County one of the safest places to suffer sudden cardiac arrest. Check out some of our achievements below. • 50 AEDs (Automated external defibrillator) provided to local non -profits and businesses through our cost -sharing program 40 outdoor 2417, yellow AED enclosures installed throughout Johnson County • Donation of $10,000 to bring PulsePoint to Johnson County Collaboration on achieving HeartSAFE community status in Johnson County What is PulsePoint? PulsePoint is an electronic messaging system that alerts app users of nearby CPR (cardiopulmonary resuscitation) needs in a public setting. Download the app today and be sure to enable critical alerts. PulsePoint also maintains an AED registry with 527AEDs currently listed & more being added every week. What is a HeartSAFE Community? Johnson County has been designated the 4' HeartSAFE Community in the US, due to our widespread CPR instruction, public access defibrillators, and PulsePoint notifications among other lifesaving initiatives. AEDs should be placed in highly visible and easily accessible locations within a community. Aim to position AEDs so they can be reached within 2 minutes walking distance from any point in the area. All Schools: Main office, gymnasiums, athletic fields Government facilities Healthcare facilities: doctor's offices, chiropractic offices, dental clinics, physical therapy and many more Workplaces: Reception areas, break rooms, Industrial manufacturing companies Public transportation: Bus stops and transportation hubs Local businesses: restaurants, hotels/motels, grocery stores, car dealerships etc. Community centers: Lobbies, fitness rooms, swimming pools Places of recreation: casinos, trampoline parks, parks, sports fields, hiking trails Remote state or county recreational sites • Apartment complexes and senior living buildings • Places of Worship A dense network of AEDs combined with bystander CPR will save more lives!
