Permanent full-time position available
Wage: $61,360.00 – $78,561.60 (starting wage contingent upon experience)
Hours: Monday – Friday, 7:00am – 3:30pm
Job summary:
Under general direction, performs general service, maintenance, and repairs of vehicles and equipment in the
City municipal fleet.
Minimum Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
Associate’s degree from an accredited educational institution and one year of related experience; or three years
of related experience and/or equivalent combination of education and experience. Degree in Automotive/Diesel
Mechanics. Experience in auto/diesel mechanics, fleet maintenance, or related. Forklift certification required
within 60 days of hire. Satisfactory driving record. Valid State of Iowa commercial driver’s license instruction
permit upon first day in position. Valid State of Iowa Class B commercial driver’s license with air brake
endorsement within 6 months of hire. Meet federal drug testing requirements. Requires a pre-employment
drug screen. Must be 18 years of age. Must pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience, Certification/Licensure, Other
Bachelor’s degree from an accredited educational institution; or four years of related experience and/or
equivalent combination of education and experience. Hydraulic system training. Air conditioning refrigerant
handling certification.

Entry-level Driver Training (ELDT) for employees who need to obtain a required CDL is provided by
the City. Employees are provided paid time to complete ELDT and to take required CDL tests.
