The powers and duties of the Airport Zoning Board of Adjustment are:
• To hear and decide appeals where it is alleged there is an error in any order, requirement, decision, or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Airport Zoning Chapter.
• To hear and decide special exceptions to the terms of the Airport Zoning Chapter upon which such board is required to pass under the Airport Zoning Chapter.
• To authorize upon appeal in specific cases such variance from the terms of the Airport Zoning Chapter as will not be contrary to the public interest, where owing to special
conditions a literal enforcement of the provisions of the Airport Zoning Chapter will result in unnecessary hardship, and so that the spirit of the Airport Zoning Chapter shall be
observed and substantial justice done.
Iowa City-appointed members of boards and commissions must be at least 18 years of age and live in Iowa City. The City Iowa City encourages diversity in the appointment of citizens to
boards and commissions.
Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Tuesday, October 28, 2025. An application can be completed and submitted on the City of Iowa City website at www.icgov.org or by contacting the City Clerk’s office.
