The Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County will be holding a public
hearing on an amendment to the “FY2026-2029 Transportation Improvement Program”
(TIP) for the Iowa City Urbanized Area. The TIP is the programming document for all
surface transportation and transit projects that receive state or federal funds, including:
street & highway, transit, rail, bicycle, and pedestrian projects in the Iowa City urbanized
area. MPOJC submits the TIP annually to the Iowa Department of Transportation (Iowa
DOT) to document the status of local transportation projects using state and federal
funds. To utilize these funds, projects must be included in the TIP with an accurate
scope and identified funding sources.
The public hearing will be held on January 28th, 2026 at 4:30 pm in the City of Iowa City
City Council Chambers, 410 E. Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240.
Amend the FY2026-2029 TIP to include a new project in FY2026: Iowa National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (NEVI) Program Implementation: Various Locations Total: $1,713,058 Federal: $1,334,292 Other: $378,766 The FY2026-2029 TIP can be found at www.MPOJC.org. Interested persons are
encouraged to attend the public hearing or forward written comments by 5:00 pm,
January 27th, 2026 to Hannah Neel, Associate Transportation Planner, MPOJC, 410 E.
Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa 52240; or by email at hneel@iowa-city.org. For more
