COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
FEBRUARY 20, 1997
Iowa City City Council, special meeting, 10:00 a.m. at the Civic Center.
Mayor Novick presiding. Council Members present: Baker, Kubby, Lehman, Norton,
Novick, Thornberry, Vanderhoef. Absent: None. Staffmembers present: Atkins,
Helling, Karr, Holecek, Winkelhake. Council minutes tape recorded on Tape 97-36,
Side 1.
Moved by Thornberry, seconded by Norton, that the ordinance amending
Title 14, Chapter 5, Article B, entitled "Plumbing Code" to expand the types of
materials allowed for the installation of potable water lines and building drainage
lines, be given. second vote for consideration. Affirmative roll call vote unanimous,
7/0, all Council Members present. The Mayor declared the motion carried.
Moved by Norton, seconded by Lehman, to adjourn to executive session to
evaluate the professional competency of an individual whose appointment, hiring,
performance or discharge is being considered when necessary to prevent needless
and irreparable injury to that individual's reputation and that individual request a
closed session. Affirmative roll call vote unanimous, 7/0, all Council Members pre-
sent. The Mayor declared the motion carried and adjourned to executive session
10:04 p.m.
Council returned to open session 2:10 p.m.
Moved by Thornberry, seconded by Kubby, to adjourn the special meeting
2:13 p.m. The Mayor declared the motion carried unanimously, 7/0, all Council
Members present.
