ORDINANCE AMENDING TITLE 3, "CITY FI- NANCES, TAXATION AND FEES," CHAPTER 4, "SCHEDULE OF FEES, RATES, CHARGES, BONDS, FINES AND PENALTIES," OF THE CITY CODE, TO INCREASE THE HOURLY PARKING RATE FOR SIXTY (60) MINUTE METERS LOCATED IN THE CENTRAL BUSI- NESS (CB-10) ZONE. WHEREAS, the City of Iowa City desires to encourage turnover of parking spaces in the Central Business (CB-10) Zone; and WHEREAS, the City of Iowa City encourages long term parking system users to use off- street lots and ramps; NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF IOWA CITY, IOWA: SECTION I. Section 3-4-7, Title III, Chapter 4, subsection 7, entitled "Parking Violations" of the City Code of Iowa City should be and is hereby amended by deleting the provision entitled "Parking Meter Fees" and adding a new provision entitled "Parking Meter Fees" to read as follows: Description of Fee, Amount of Fee, Charge, Bond, Charge, Bond Fine or Penalty Fine or Penalty Parking Meter Fees: Central Business (CB-10) zone, on-street meter, per hour Central business district on-street meter, (outside CB-10 zone) per hour Central business district lot meter, per hour $1.00 $0.60 $0.60 DEFEATED Ordinance No. Page 2 Peripheral on-street meter (outside central business district), per hour $0.40 Peripheral lot meter (outside central business district), per hour $0.40 SECTION II. REPEALER. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict with the provi- sions of this Ordinance are hereby repealed. SECTION III. SEVERABILITY. If any section, provision or part of the Ordinance shall be adjudged to be invalid or unconstitutional, such adjudication shall not affect the validity of the Ordinance as a whole or any section, provision or part thereof not adjudged invalid or unconsti- tutional. SECTION IV. EFFECTIVE DATE. This Ordi- nance shall be in effect after its final passage, approval and publication, as provided by law.
