COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF COUNCIL ACTIVITIES FEBRUARY 6, 1996 Iowa City City Council, special meeting, 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Center. Mayor Novick presiding. Council Members present: Bal~er, Kubby, Lehman, Norton, Novick, Thornberry, Vanderhoef. Absent: None. Staffmembers present: Arkins, Helling, Karr, Fowler, Logsden, Davidson, Doyle, Dollman, Yucuis. Gorman, Systems Unlimited; and petition submitted bv Geoffrey Hacker. The Mayor declaretithe motion carried unanimously, 7/0, all Council Members present. Moved by Kubby, seconded by Thornberry, to approve a tentative agreement between, Z~/../~.. the City of Iowa City and the American Federation of State, County, and Municipal Employ- ees, Local 183, AFL-CIO, for a Collective Bargaining Agreement to be effective July 1, t996 through June 30, 1999. The Mayor declared the motion carried unanimously, 7/0, all Council Members present. Moved by Kubby, seconded by Baker, to approve a tentative agreement between the City of Iowa City and the Iowa City Association of Professional Firefighters, Local 610, IAFF, AFL-CIO, for a Collective Bargaining Agreement to be effective July 1, 1996 through June 30, 1997. The Mavor declared the motion carried unanimously, 7/0, all Council Members present. Council Member Norton and Mayor Novick reported on the Geographic Information System (GIS) presentation to the Board of Supervisors earlier in the day, urged City and County cooperation, and suggested JCCOG involvement. Council Member Kubby noted the letter from the Johnson County Water Festival and. suggested coordinating Council scheduling for the event. Mayor Novick encouraged everyone to attend the Hospice Road Race reception. Council Member Thornberry stated he had spent the morning visiting the bus barn 4/50. trying to find answers to transit budget issues. Kubby noted that David Couchman had indicated he had submitted suggestions to Council Member Thornberry and requested copies for all Council Members. The City Manager stated he would distribute copies.
