HomeMy WebLinkAbout1996-04-09 Award The Student Council at Roosevelt Elementary has been in operation for
three years. During this time, student have learned both governmental and
leadership skills. This group has led many projects to benefit the community.
For example, this year, they collected food and supplies for the Crisis Center
one month and the Animal Shelter anoth_er month. They will donate to the
Raptor Center--something which has been a tradition at Roosevelt. They have
also initiated projects that benefit Roosevelt School such as cleaning the ravine,
raising money for classroom projects, donating to a bench in memory of a
former Roosevelt teacher, and contributing money for improving the outside
appearance of tl~e school.
This group has given up their recess to attend meetings and to volunteer in
the school store. We are most proud of our future leaders.
(Accepting for the Council are Kris Harms, Chris Sottell, and Rachel Allen-Holbrook)
GRANT WOOD ELEMENTARY
Shanna (Shawna) Emerson, Sara Griffin, Nick Rocca, and Jennifer Leggett
have been at Grant Wood their entire student careers. They are viewed by
peers and staff alike as the kind of people that can be counted on to always
help others. If help is needed, they volunteer without hesitation. If help is
needed and they haven't been asked, they have a sense of knowing to offer
assistance.
All three students have served as Conflict Managers and are willing to give
up recess as well as class time (giving them added responsibility) to help
students at all grade levels.
All have served on School Patrol and are involved whenever or wherever
they are needed in various other activities.
You are all commended for your important contributions.
