I would like to take this opportunity to say a warm welcome to you - our marvelous City that made the 20th Annual Parsons Technology Hospice Road Races held on October ! 3, ! 996 a wonderfiJi experience. A special thanks to you, Mayor Nlaomi blovick for greeting our participants at the start and Karen Kubby for greeting each finisher with a beautiful flower on a remarkably beautiful, fall day, and to all of our city departments that participated. 1 would especially like to thank our police department, Team 911 "Firefighters" and Team Iowa City Public Library that joined 16 ! teams and over 4, SOO participants in raising $ ! 00,000 for iowa City Hospice and the agencies of United Way. Our top pledge winner was our number 1 fund raiser - Ted Pacha CEO e~ President of Hawkeye Medical Supply who raised $11,201 and joined First Place Team Hawkeye Medical Supply in raising $ ! 4,680. On behalf of the board of directors of the Iowa City Road Races, the runners walkers, wheelers, swimmers and bicylists, the fund raisers and the volunteers, I wish to award you this commemo~'adve poster by artist Robert Pflngston and framed compliments of our Friends of Henry Louis, Inc.
