HomeMy WebLinkAbout1995-11-21 CorrespondenceOctober 25, 1995 Dear Members of City Council, Thank you for giving me the opportunity to speak at the council meeting last night. As I was out of breath after running to the Council Chambers and somewhat nervous, I feel like I did not make my point clearly. To clarify, as roller-hockey players we have chosen the location and time for our games (the top level of the new parking garage, at night) for three basic reasons: 1) Safety (lack of traffic) 2) Ideal playing conditions (excellent lighting; a large, smooth surface surrounded by high walls) 3) Public consideration (isolation from residences, thus avoiding noise problems; minimal possibility of property damage) I hope that there is some solution to the general problem that will still allow us at least this location for rollerblading. Thank you again for your patience and your careful consideration of this matter. The handicapped parking currently by this memorandum being created at W59 will be moved to the west end of the block upon the completion of the relet project in the spring of 1996. bl~par~dng ¥M01 'All0 ¥M01 ~313 All0 i ;~ :01X~ 91/~OX §6 City of Iowa City MEMORANDUM Date: To: From: Re: November 16, 1995 The Honorable Mayor, City Council and City Clerk James Brachtel, Traffic Engineer Change in Weight Limit on the WooIf Avenue Bridge As directed by Title 9, Chapter 1, Section 3 of the City Code, this is to advise you of the following action: .ACTION: Pursuant to Section 9-1-3A6 of the City Code, the City Traffic Engineer will direct the change of the weight limit postings on the WooIf Avenue bridge to be as follows: 10 tons for straight trucks 15 tons for standard semi-trucks 18 tons for double semi-trucks The speed limit for trucks and buses will be maintained at 10 miles per hour upon the bridge.
