We, the undersigned Members of the Board of Supervisors, and ex-officio Board of
Canvassers, for Johnson County, hereby certify the following to be a true and correct abstract of the
votes east in this county at the Iowa City Election held on the 7th day of November, 1995, as shown
by the tally lists returned from the election precincts.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Council Member District A there were nine thousand three
hundred thirty-seven (9,337) votes cast as follows:
Anna Buss received three thousand seven hundred forty-seven (3,747) votes, Dee W. Norton received
five thousand five hundred sixty-six (5,566) votes, and Scattered were twenty-four (24) votes.
We therefore declare Dee W. Norton duly elected to the office of Council Member District A,
for the term of 4 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Council Member District C (ONE to be elected) there were nine
thousand seven hundred thirty-four (9,734) votes cast as follows:
Bruno Pigott received four thousand six hundred thirty-nine (4,639) votes, Dean Thornberry recieved
five thousand eighty-four (5,084) votes, and Scattered were eleven (11) votes.
We therefore declare Dean Thornberry duly elected to the office of Council Member District C
for the term of 4 years.
FOR THE OFFICE OF Iowa City Council Member At Large (TWO to be elected) there were
nineteen thousand one hundred sixty-eight (19,168) votes east as follows:
Julianna Johnston received three thousand six hundred eighteen (3,618) votes, Karen Kubby received
five thousand three hundred seven (5,307) votes, Dee Vanderhoef received five thousand four
hundred eighty-eight (5,488) votes, Howie Vernon received four thousand seven hundred twenty-six
(4,726) votes and Scattered were twenty-nine (29) votes.
We therefore declare Karen Kubby and Dee Vanderhoef duly elected to the offices of Council
Member At Large, for the term of 4 years.
IN TESTIMONY WttEREOF, We have set our hands and caused this to be attested by the
Clerk of the Board of Supervisors, with the seal of this County.
