Dear Sir or Madam:
I am presently a member of the Parks and Recreation Commission. Due to the
fact that my husband and I will not be living in Iowa City next year (he has a
research leave from his position in the Physics Department at the University of
Iowa), I will have to resign my seat on the Commission.
Marilyn Kriz of the Parks and Recreation Department suggested I wdte to you to
inform you. Please let me know if there is anything else I need to do. I have
certainly enjoyed serving on the Commission, and regret that I will have to
leave.
Yours truly,
rlk~~-~

Mayor Ernie Lehman
Doris Malkmus, Chair
Historic Preservation Commission
Vacancy on the Historic Preservation Commission
The Historic Preservation Commission appreciated the efforts and contributions of Dr.
Trudy Day on the Commission and received notice of her resignation with regret. Her loss
and the recent retirement of our longest serving and only trained historian on the
Commission, Betty Kelly, leaves the Commission bereft of professional expertise in the
architectural history field.
We are hopeful that the City Council will take the commission's need for someone with
experience or training in history, architectural history, or historic preservation seriously
when filling the at large position vacated by Dr. Day.
