HomeMy WebLinkAbout2005-09-06 Proclamation City of Iowa City PROCLAMATION Whereas, our founding fathers, in order to secure the blessings of liberty for themselves and their posterity, did ordain and establish a Constitution for the United States of America, and Whereas, it is of the greatest importance that all citizens fully understand the provisions and principles contained in the Constitution in order to effectively support, preserve and defend it against all enemies; and Whereas, the two hundred sixteenth anniversary of the signing of the Constitution provides an historic opportunity for all Americans to remember the achievements of the Framers of the Constitution, and the rights, privileges, and responsibilities afforded to us in this unique document; and Whereas, the independence guaranteed to American citizens, whether by birth or naturalization, should be remembered, Now, therefore, I, Ernest W. Lehman, Mayor of the City of Iowa City, do hereby proclaim the month of September 2005 as NATIONAL ALCOHOL AND DR UG ADDICTION RE CO VERY MONTH in Iowa City and I call upon the people to observe this month with appropriate programs, activities, and ceremonies supporting this year'stheme,me,i~j~t,//~''Join icesfor Recovery: Healing Lives, Families, attd Communities."
