Discussion: Responding to Hatred. Homophobia, and Oppression 7 PM, Iowa City Public LibraW Room A. This workshop/discussion will focus on creative, constructive, and active ways to respond 1o oppression in our everyday lives.
Additionally, tactics for identifying and coping with subtle hatred and homophobia will be presented and discussed. Sponsored by University Counseling Service.

and all sons of cool stuff. Then we come back to the park in about an hour for the best day ever--music (including the Quire), speakers (including Newsweek cover queer Tim Tutt), vendors, games, dogs with frisbees, the Jugglers Against
Homophobia, and lots lots more. We don't need to tell you, just be thera--be out, be proud, be festive.

Pride Service at the Unitarian Universalist Society of Iowa City, 10AM, 10 S. Gilbert. Special worship service on the inherent worth of all people, with guest Joe Wilson speaking on "My Journey as an Activist."
Paddle With Pride/Pets in the Park, I PM, iowa River at Crandic Park. All you water loving lesbians and others with colorful kayaks and canoes, this is your special day. Put your boats in water at Crandic Park and paddle with pride to City Park,
where the rest of the community will be waiting with a pride of poochies. Prizes for best stupid pet tricks and (if it isn't too hot), pet costumes. Join at your own risk, and please paddle responsibly and keep your animal companions under control.

Pride Month Talent Show, 7 PM, Macbride Auditorium. They've promised us air conditioning this time. The long-standing community tradition continues with new and exciting surprises. It will be hard to top those community favorites the Singing

Shower of Stoles June 19-20-21 A collection of hundreds of liturgical stoles from LGBT people from all over N. Amedca. The individuals represented by these stoles are active leaders in their faith comm un ities who have been barred from serving
their faith communities because of their sexual orientation or gender identity. This collection was created as a witness to give a voice to these faithful people many of whom have been forced to choose between serving in silence or losing their

Pride Month Video Series: Living with Pride: Ruth Ellis at 100 7 PM, at WRAC. Join us for a wonderful film and discussion about 100 year old Ruth Ellis. She' s seen it all--surviving the Spr ngfield IL race riots as a child, to running an underground
gay nightclub out of her Detroit home in the 50s and 60s, to becoming a fixture at the Michigan womyn's festival in her 90s. She's the embodiment of oral queer history, living to tell the stories that otherwise have been lost. Sponsored by WRAC.

Safe Zone Training, 9 AM-Noon. The Safe Zone Project is a campus-wide program that offers a visible message of inclusion, acceptance and support LGBT people in the UI community. This 3-hour educational workshop focuses on the LGBT
