COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
OCTOBER 19, 2000
Iowa City City Council, special meeting, 7:30 a.m. at the Civic Center.
Mayor Lehman presiding. Council Members present: Champion, Kanner,
Lehman, O'Donnell, Pfab, Vanderhoef. Absent: Wilbum. Council minutes tape
recorded on Tape 00-98, Side 2.
Moved by Champion, seconded by Vanderhoef, to adjourn to executive
session to consider a motion to adjourn to executive session to discuss the
purchase of particular real estate only where premature disclosure could be
reasonably expected to increase the price of the governmental body would have
to pay for that property. The minutes and the tape recording of a session closed
under this paragraph shall be available for public examination when the
transaction discussed is completed. Affirmative roll call vote unanimous, 6/0,
Wilburn absent. The Mayor declared the motion carried and adjourned into
executive session at 7:31 a.m.
Council returned to open session 7:48 a.m.
Moved by O'Donnell, seconded by Champion, to adopt RES. 00-356, Bk.
124, p. 356, AUTHORIZING THE MAYOR TO SIGN AND THE CITY CLERK TO
ATTEST A PURCHASE AGREEMENT FOR THE OLD J.C. PENNEY BUILDING
ON THE CORNER OF DUBUQUE AND COLLEGE STREETS BETWEEN THE
CITY AND THE OWNERS OF THE BUILDING. The Mayor declared the
resolution adopted, 5/1, with the following division of roll call vote: Ayes:
Champion, Kanner, Lehman, O'Donnell, Vanderhoef. Nays: Pfab. Absent:
Wilburn.
Moved by O'Donnell, seconded by Vanderhoef, to adjourn the special
meeting at 7:50 a.m. The Mayor declared the motion carried unanimously, 6/0,
