WHAT CONTRIBUTIONS DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN MAKE TO THIS ADVISORY BOARD (OR STATE REASON FOR APPLYING)? EXPERIENCE AND/OR ACTIVITIES WHICH YOU FEEL QUALIFY YOU FOR THIS POSITION: I served on the Vision 2000 task force which made recommendations for changes to the Comprehensive Plan. I have served on the Housing and Community Development Commission and have been a beard member oflowa Valley Habitat for Humanity. I have acted as president of the board of Greater Iowa City Housing Fellowship for the past ten years. I am also on the Johnson County Empowerment Area Board and the board of Eagles' Flight, a community based nonprofit seeking to provide health and child care services to women of color in the community. WHAT IS YOUR PRESENT KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ADVISORY BOARD: It is my understanding that the purpose of the Planning and Zoning Commission is to assist the Council and residents of Iowa City by making recommendations to the Council about proposed changes to the Zoning Ordinance as submitted by potential developers, property owners, and neighborhood groups. The Commission also periodically reviews and makes recommendations about the Comprehensive Plan. WHAT CONTRIBUTIONS DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN MAKE TO THS ADVISORY BOARD (OR STATE REASON FOR APPLYING)? I believe I can listen to various viewpoints about zoning issues and make recommendations which reflect a balance of interests. In my opinion, Commission members are asked to apply the zoning ordinance and Comprehensive Plan consistently to all matters brought before them. In my experience people in Iowa City want a city that has land use policies that respect good neighborhoods and support seand commercial development. I hope that as a member of the Commission I can work with other members to continue to achieve those goals. S( '" ~'IFIC ATTENTION SHOULD BE DIRECTED TO A POSSIBLE CONFLICT OF INTEREST.
