Vanderhoef: Move the resolution. Lehman: Moved by Vanderhoef. Champion: Second. Lehman: Seconded by Champion. Discussion? Bailey: So rebid as stick built? No consideration of. . . O'Donnell: I understand there were a lot of questions involved with that. Vanderhoef: The report that I got was that the modulars didn't have anything that was particular for this kind of a lot, to do that back-to-back kind of thing, but there's some interest out there, maybe, for some more bids versus just the one bid, and so I'm willing to take a look at it. I still am interested in the other lots in Longfellow Place, I would like to consider doing individual houses, rather than connected houses, if the lots will hold that. Champion: (can't hear) Vanderhoef: Well, they're planned for duplexes right now. O'Donnell: They all are zoned for duplexes. Vanderhoef: But they could be single-family. There are single-family homes in that area on smaller lots. Each lot is a little different. Bailey: Well, and I'm not so concerned about the type of housing. I'm more concerned about making it affordable and coming in at a reasonable price. Vanderhoef: Well, and I'm interested in the salability, and as you know, I have made comments that I'm not real pleased with the floor plan and design of this particular unit, so I'm not interested in continuing a second time with this one, but certainly will see whether the market is interested in this design. Elliot: I'm not sure it's correct to say that we learned from this, but I would like to subsequently feel that any time we have a situation like this that it is best that we consider all of the options, whether it's stick-built, This represents only a reasonably accurate transcription of the Iowa City City Council meeting of November 29, 2005. #4a Page 2 manufactured component homes, whatever. O'Donnell: So moved. Wilburn: So moved. Lehman: Moved by O'Donnell; seconded by Wilburn. Discussion? All in favor. Dilkes: No! You don't want to be in favor if you want to award tonight. You want to vote this down. Elliott: I thought we were in favor of voting it down. Lehman: Oh, no. (several taking at once) Right, so it requires a negative vote in order to... Karr: Moved by O'Donnell, seconded by Wilburn. Lehman: Right, and.. . all in favor. All opposed? (several talking at once) How many oppose this? Karr: I don't think the tape is going to pick that up. Lehman: All right, let me indicate that the entire Council has voted in the negative, and the motion is therefore defeated. Elliott: Let the record show.
