I'm committed to a fiscally sound and vital airport that contributes to the overall well-being of all of our citizens and

A Bachelors Degree in Computer Science from the University of Iowa and experienf.' that necessitated management
and teamwork/cooperation are what qualifies me for a position on the telecommuni itons commission. I have
experience in web design and software development, as well as familiarity with cur nt telecommunications issues
(e.g. FCC "a la carte" ruling, and local vs. state contractslfranchising). I've also ha extensive experience in both
management and customer service, meaning that my ability to work with others is ai catalyst for success. I've been
an active contributor to Iowa City since August of 2000, and am excited and ready t~ contribute to local government
commissions and councils. My breadth of experience and level of commitment are what make me an excellent
candidate for the telecommunications commission.

General Application
WHAT IS YOUR PRESENT KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ADVISORY BOARD?
TO my knowledge, the telecommunications commission assists the staff in the following capacities: overseeing local
channels (PATV, UITV, City Channels, Library Channels, IC School District TV, etc.), meeting with Mediacom
epresentatives, acting as a Iiason between the city council and mediacom, and assiting with complaint resolution.
WHAT CONTRIBUTIONS DO YOU FEEL YOU CAN MAKE TO THIS ADVISORY BOARD (OR STATE
REASON FOR APPLYING)?
y experience in technology and management offer both problem-solving and peo Ie skills, which are critically
mportant in local government, and in people, moreover. Most of my employment hIstory consists of supervisor level
ositions that necessitated leadership, discretion, judgment capabilities, and above!all, excellent communication and
riting skills. Additionally, I'm relatively new to involvement in local government, an~ that freshness is in itself a major
ontribution that I offer. My ability to hear issues for the first time and, while taking~redence from community elders,
valuate local issues of telecommunications can be hugely beneficial to the commi ion. My previously cited
amiliarity with local telecommunications issues ("a la carte," etc.) is as well certain I part of my contribution to the
ommission. While freshness to local government can be a good thing, it is my fa iliarity with telecommunications
hat makes me the right choice for placement on the telecommunications commissi(ln.
