HomeMy WebLinkAbout2011-02-01 Proclamation~;" ~~ City of Iowa City PROCLAMATION Whereas, many thousands of veterans of America's armed forces have served this nation in times of both peace and war and, in doing so, have thereby assured the independence of all her people, and Whereas, more than a million veterans enter the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers nationwide for medical attention annually, and Whereas, these hospitalized veterans who yet bear the physical and emotional scars of war have most surely earned our gratitude for the many personal sacrifices they have made on our behalf, and Whereas, the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers, for the fourteenth consecutive year, have organized a national day of tribute honoring all hospitalized veterans with the purpose of urging Americans to remember these men and women, especially on this day, and Whereas, we wish to express to the patients in the Department of Veterans Affairs Medical Centers our concern, care, and sincere appreciation.
