USE OF FORCE REPORT

84 11-02-00 2000-10859 Trespass In a residential neighborhood the
officer responded to subjects
trespassing on private property. The
subjects tried to walk away from the
officer who had to use contact controls
to get a subject to his squad car.
58 11-03-00 2000-10896 Juvenile Problem At a residence a juvenile was getting
ready to assault a relative. The officer
had to take the subject to the ground to
stop the assault and for handcuffing.
Still being verbally abusive and
physically uncooperative, the officer
had to ose contact controls to get the
subject to his squad car and then inside
it.
39 11-04-00 2000-10901 Intoxicated Person The officer slopped a subject for an
open container in the Ped Mall. The
subject then took off running until he
tripped over a curb, The officer
directed him to the ground.
16 11-04-00 2000-10921 Intoxicated Person In a residential alley an intoxicated
subject refused to stop for the officer.
The officer needed to use hands-on
controls to stop the person, take him to
ground, and handcuff him when he
continued to physically resist.
58 11-08-00 2000-11045 Juvenile Problem In front of the Civic Center a juvenile
attempted to get away from an officer.
The officer needed to use contact
controls to stop his progress, put the
subject against a wall, and use a
wristlock to gain his compliance.
35,94,20 11-09-00 2000-11058 Assault Officers attempted to break up a fight
in the downtown area. The subjects
were physically separated but one
continued to physically resist. That
person was taken to the ground and
handcuffed. At the squad car, the
subject again physically resisted and
tried to break away from the officer.
Once inside the car, the subject
attempted to kick out the windows until

warned of the consequences.
6 11-09 00 2000-11066 Injured Animal The officer had to destroy a badly
injured deer with his sidearm.
39 11-10-00 2000-11083 Intoxicated Person In the downtown area the ofl]cer
attempted to stop an individual causing
problems. This subject took off
running until he was taken to the
ground and handcuffed by the officer.
33 11-10-00 2000-11084 Interference At an outlying bar, a subject warned an
underage dri~flcer of police presence in
the bar. This subject then physically
resisted the officer's attempt to
apprehend the underage dri~ker. TIle
officer had to physically move the
subject out of the officer's way ill order
to apprehend tile other person.
1L 17 11-11-00 2000-11132 Obstruction A subject was escorted out of the plaza
where he was encouraging others to be
disorderly. He physically resisted
arrest. A straggled ensued with both
officers and the subject ending up oil
the ground. He was eventually taken
into custody.
37 11-11-00 2000 11170 Injured Animal An officer used his sideamr to destroy
an injured deer.
14 11-12-00 2000-11182 Intoxicated Person The officer went to an assisted living
residence to speak with a disruptive
subject. This subject refused to talk to
the officer and tried to leave. The
subject physically resisted the officer's
attempt to stop him so he was placed
against a wall and the officer physicaIly
moved his hands into a position for
handcuffing.
3 1 l- 14-00 2000-11242 Injured Animal The officer used his sidearm to destroy
an injured deer.
43 11-18-00 2000-11390 intoxicated Person The officer responded to a disturbance
calI. When told he was under arrest, the
subject physically resisted being
handcuffed. The officer placed him
against a wail and had to physically
place his hands in a position to
complete handcuffing. At the squad
car, the subject had to be restrained
while he was searched,

49 11-19-00 2000-11417 Assault During the arrest of another individual
in the downtown area, this subject tried
to free the arrested person from an
officer. After verbal suggestions failed,
the officer had to physically disengage
the subject. This person then shoved
and grabbed the officer. The officer
then had to physically place the
individual against a wall for
handcuffing.
7 11-19-00 2000-11431 Traffic Stop On a high-risk traffic stop, the officer
had a drawn sidearm pointed at the
ground until multiple burglary suspects
were secured.
55 11-20-00 2000-11441 Sick Animal The officer desn-oyed a sick raccoon
with his sidearm.
43,12,36 11-21-00 2000-11464 Traffic Stop When an officer requested the subject
get out of a vehicle being towed, the
subject verbally and physically refused.
The subject had to be sprayed with OC
by backup officers. He was physically
removed from the vehicle and taken to
the ground where he continued to
physically resist handcuffing until a
knee strike gained compliance.
38 11-24-00 2000~ 11544 Sick Animal The officer used his sidearm to destroy
a sick opossum.
98,85,42,20,34, 11-29-00 2000-11678 High Risk Warrant The Special Response Team was
40,39 assigned to serve an a~Tned robbery
arrest warrant. During the service of the
warrant, team members displayed
departmental weapons.
