SUBJECT: July & August Use of Force Review
The bi-monthly "Use of Force Review Committee met on September 20, 2002. It was
composed of the following personnel;
Captain Widmer
Sgt. Brotherton
Sgt. Hurd
The review of the submitted reports for July (18 incidents-23 reports) and August (19
incidents-29 reports) revealed no policy or training concerns.
With two exceptions, the documentation that officers are doing on their use of force
reports is very good. As a way of reminder, the use of force report is to be short, but
enough information must be given so that the reports can stand alone in justifying the
force used. Two reports are being returned to Late Nights reference this issue.
