Adjourn To the Historic Preservation Commission: This is a request for a second commission meeting in February or that my application for review be considered during the February 10 meeting. The reason for this request is that I feel I was given incomplete and misleading infonnation by the former staff contact Shelley McCafferty. Approximately six months ago, I called the Planning and Urban Development Department to inquire about the acceptability of the home renovations I was planning. I asked specifically about two exterior changes: chimney removal and a bathroom window removal. At that time Ms. McCafferty stated that she didn't think there would be any problems except that she would need to look at the window. At no time did she mention an application for review, the commission or approval from the commission. Although it may have been naïve of me to think that this was the process, this is the first renovation project that I have attempted. Based on Ms. McCafferty's statements, architectural plans were drawn up and a contractor agreed to begin renovations in mid-February. On Monday February 7, I again called the Planning and Urban Development Department to determine the specifications for replacement windows. I was surprised to learn that I would be required to submit an application and that the submission date for the February meeting was four days prior. Sunil Terdalker has been helpful in explaining the process to me. Needless to say, I am still angry at receiving misleading infonnation from a former staff person. Without a second commission meeting this month, my project will be delayed, causing scheduling problems with the contractor. In the event that certain exterior changes are not approved it will mean literally going back to the drawing board. Please give due consideration to my request.
