An exceptional showcase opportunit.') for a talented Iowa sculptor is being offered b.') the Cit.') of Iowa Gt.').
The Public Art Advisor.') Committee has announced its annual call to select a work for displa.'), June 2005. The
'Iowa Artist's Showcase Pad" is located near the Weatherdance Fountain on the bustling downtown Pedestrian
Mall. A new sculpture is unveiled each June to coincide with the opening of The Iowa Arts Festival. Iowa artist
Justine Z.immer launched this tradition in June 2001 with her sculpture "Doroth.')". John Co.')ne, another Iowa
Gt.') artist, followed up with his sculpture 'Angel'. Both sculptures have been seen b.') thousands of residents
and visitors to Iowa Cit.'). It's an opportunit.') for sale, but it's also a wonderful portfolio opportunit.').
Specifications
The Artwork must be safe, maintenance-free, and suitable to the outdoor environ-
ment ot downtown Iowa Gt.'). It must be able to be secured to the -t' x +' cement pad.
Bolts are currentl.') in place, and a template and specitications are detailed in the
diagram to the right. The base tor the sculpture must be metal and no less than ,/8"
thick but not greater than ,/-t" thick. In order tor the base to lie flat on the cement
pad, there should be no protrusions on the bottom surtace.

Process
The Iowa Gt.') Public Art Advisor.') Committee invites Iowa artists to make submissions
on or betore November 19, 200+, with the tollowing enclosures,

X A biograEhical paragraph ( 10 copies)
X An artist s statement ( 10 copies)
X Sculpture images must appear on ,5mm color slides or digital photos on ,1/2' tlopp.') disk or CD. Two or
three views per entr~. A maximum ot five entries.
X Each slide and/or digital photo must have the tollowing identitication, artist's name, number ot slide, title ot
work, medium, measurements, date, indication ot the top ot the work
X Sep'arate sheet ot paper listing number ot slide or name ot digital photo, and the intormation provided tor
each slide or photo ( 10 copies)
The Iowa Cit.') Public Art Advisor.') Committee will screen entries and make a recommendation to the Iowa Cit.')
Cit.') Council tor its final selection.
