NOTICE
THE CITY COUNCIL OF IOWA CITY IS CONSIDERING APPOINTMENT TO THE FOLLOWING COMMITTEE:
PUBLIC ART ADVISORY COMMITTEE
One Vacancy - Unexpired Term
Effective Upon Appointment - January 1, 2015
One Vacancy - Unexpired Term, plus a three -year term
Effective Upon Appointment - January 1, 2017
Duties of the Public Art Advisory Committee include developing by -laws and procedures for the Iowa
City Public Art Program; administering the Public Art Program by determining the placement of public art,
the type of art to be used in a specific project, and the artist to be engaged; overseeing the acceptance of
gifts of art; overseeing the maintenance and disposition of public art; and overseeing expenditures of the
Public Art Program budget.
Iowa City appointed members of boards and commissions must be eligible electors of the City of Iowa
City. The Public Art Advisory Committee meets the first Thursday of each month at 3:30 p.m.
Applications must be received by 5:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 28, 2013. The City of Iowa City
encourages diversity in the appointment of citizens to boards and commissions. Persons interested in
being considered should contact the City Clerk at City Hall, 410 E. Washington Street. Application forms
are available from the Clerk's office upon request or on the City website at www.icgov.org.

As a young architect with Neumann Monson Architects, I very much value and recognize the creativity, knowledge,
and imagination that can come from interacting with art in real, tangible ways. I truly beleive that every good architect
is a true artist at heart, and this is something I take serious. Along with working as an architect here in Iowa City,
am an emerging Iowa artist, born and raised. I believe my artistic skills, archtiectural knowledge, and diverse
education would make me a beneficial addition to the Iowa City Public Art Advisory Committee.
WHAT IS YOUR PRESENT KNOWLEDGE OF THIS ADVISORY BOARD?
My understanding is that the Public Art Advisory Committee; decides upon which art to display in Iowa City and
where, oversees gifts of art made to Iowa City, is responsible for maintaining the upkeep of lowafiity's public art, and
decides how to responsibly and effectively use the Public Art Program budget. is

I can bring a young, fresh perspective to the diverse group of people that make up the asory Wmml. My art
and architectural experiences have given me a broad exposure to the many facets of the desigr%orld, and the
unique capability to think outside the box. Because of my great love of Iowa city and the arts, I can assure you that I
will work my hardest to get only the best art and artists to represent the city of Iowa City to the world.
