Dear Marian,
Per the Bylaws of the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County ( MPOJC), in
2014 your community is one of three Johnson County communities selected to have
representation on the Policy Board of the East Central Iowa Council of Governments. The
East Central Iowa Council of Governments ( ECICOG) is the Regional Planning Agency
representing Benton, Cedar, Iowa, Johnson, Jones, Linn, Tama, and Washington Counties.
Meetings of the ECICOG Board of Directors are held at the ECICOG office (third floor of the
Shores Central Park building at 700 16th Street NE, Suite 301, Cedar Rapids, IA) on the last
Thursday of each month at 1 p.m. There are typically ten meetings per year.
Your community representative may be any elected official. The appointment is for one year.
The ECICOG Policy Board hears updates from staff, provides direction on policy and staff
issues, and determines funding apportionments for grant programs administered by ECICOG.
Please let me know who your representative is by January 17, and I will forward that
appointment to the MPOJC Urbanized Area Policy Board for their January 29 meeting for
ratification. If you do not have any council members available for this appointment, please
indicate that to me as well and we will attempt to find an alternate — any Johnson County
elected official may serve as the appointee.
