PROCLAMATION
Whereas, WorldBlu- certified organizations model how freedom and democracy in
the workplace unleashes the human spirit in order to build high performing
companies that change the world for the better; and
Whereas, the Iowa City Area Development Group endeavors to foster democratic,
team - centered workplace models to help companies grow and thrive; and
Whereas, the Iowa City Area Development Group has been certified as one of
only forty -one WorldBlu organizations worldwide, and the first economic
development group ever certified, and
Whereas, the future growth of Iowa City relies on the diversity, imagination,
input and innovation of its businesses and citizens; and
Now, therefore I, Matthew J. Hayek, Mayor of the City of Iowa City, do hereby
proclaim April 8, 2014, as:
Democracy in the Workplace Day
and urge our citizens, volunteers, business leaders and community members to
unleash the power of WorldBlu's tenets of transparency, dialogue, accountability,
integrity and evaluation in business and life, and congratulate the Iowa City Area
Development Group on its WorldBlu certification and dedication to enhancing the
quality of our community by serving the workforce development and economic
development needs of interstate commerce companies.
