Fringe Area Agreement
Provides for City review of proposed development in the 2 -
mile Fringe Area — this is enabled by State Code
The Fringe Area Agreement encourages development in
conformance with the Johnson County Land Use Plan
The 2 -mile Fringe Area is divided by areas within the City
growth area, and areas outside of City growth area
City provides review and comment on proposed rezoning
actions — Rezoning decisions are made by the Johnson County
Board of Supervisors
Subdivisions of three or more lots are required to be reviewed
and approved by Iowa City and Johnson County Board of
Supervisors
