HomeMy WebLinkAbout2016-01-05 Public hearingNOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING Notice is hereby given that a public hearing will be held by the City Council of Iowa City, Iowa, at 7:00 p.m. on the 5th day of January, 2016, in Emma J. Harvat Hall, 410 E. Washington Street, Iowa City, Iowa, or if said meeting is cancelled, at the next meeting of the City Council thereafter as posted by the City Clerk; at which hearing the Council will consider: 1. An ordinance amending title 14, Zoning Code, Section 4B -4A-7, to allow residential uses on the ground -level floor in the Central Business Support (CB -5) zone in the area bounded by Gilbert Street, Van Buren Street, Burlington Street, and the mid -block alley south of Jefferson Street, provided certain form - based zoning standards are met. 2. An ordinance changing the zoning from Neighborhood Public (P-1) zone to Central Business Support (CB -5) zone for 0.98 acres of property located south of Iowa Avenue between Gilbert and Van Buren Streets. Copies of the proposed ordinances and resolutions are on file for public examination in the office of the City Clerk, City Hall, Iowa City, Iowa. Persons wishing to make their views known for Council consideration are encouraged to appear at the above-mentioned time and place. MARIAN K. KARR, CITY CLERK City Council January 5, 2016 Code Amendment Item • Discussion of amendments to Title 14, Zoning Code, to allow residential uses on the ground level floor in CB -2 and CB -5 Zones located south of Jefferson Street and west of Van Buren Street, provided certain form -based zoning standards are met to ensure a high quality living environment. Proposed Code Amendment For properties zoned CB -5 located within the area bounded by Gilbert St, Van Buren St, Burlington St and the mid -block alley south of Jefferson St, residential uses are allowed on the ground level floor of buildings, provided the following conditions are met: 1. In lieu of the standards in paragraphs c. and d. above, the proposed ground level dwelling units must be located within one of the following buildings types, as described in the form -based zoning standards in 14-2G-5, Building Type Standards: a. Apartment Building b. Multi -Dwelling Building c. Liner Building d.
