Position Title: Utility Billing Coordinator - Revenue
Department: Finance

Job Summary
Under general direction, prepares the weekly utility bills and acts as the Revenue Division system
liaison for issues related to the 3rd party utility billing customer information system.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities
Enters information into computer system for weekly utility billings.
Monitors, analyzes, adjusts, and verifies accuracy of utility billing information; resolves problems
with high and low water meter readings or bills.
Plans, communicates and analyzes software status and use with management as well as end users.
Provides technical assistance and training to system users.
Coordinates internal customer issues, system errors, software upgrades, enhancement requests and
new module implementation
Signs up customers for services and answers questions and complaints from the public and City
employees concerning City policies and procedures regarding utility services; directs unanswered
problems and inquiries to appropriate City personnel.
Establishes utility payment plans in accordance with City policy.
Notifies account holder and collects inactive delinquent utility accounts through the lien process,
balance transfers, or collection agency process.
Initiates shutoff procedure of delinquent utility accounts and accounts that no longer need service;
notifies water plant of shutoff accounts and prepares notification to customer.
Enters new construction accounts and monitors account information throughout process from
installing water meter to final meter inspection.
Establishes and maintains various correspondence files and statistical data; composes and types
variety of correspondence.
Performs utility bill adjustments; updates records accordingly.

Prepares vendor invoices for payment.
Conducts self in a manner which promotes and supports diversity and inclusivity in the workplace

Performs all other related duties as assigned.

The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
Minimum Education, Experience and Certification
Associate’s degree or equivalent from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized
accreditation body required. Successful track record with three years of experience providing technical
support and managing software, or equivalent combination of education and experience required. Must
pass criminal background check.
Preferred Education, Experience and Certification
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent from an educational institution accredited by a DOE recognized
accreditation body preferred. Three years of experience in the water utility industry and three years of
experience providing technical support and managing software preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of utility billing procedures. Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite. Skills in trouble shooting
software issues and training end users. Skills in communication and public relations. Ability to read and
understand technical materials. Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations. Ability to prepare
written correspondence. Ability to operate standard office equipment.
