Iowa City values bicycling as a healthy, clean.. and fun travel choke and is constantly staving to improve bicycling
conditiens. Because of its support, Iowa City attained a Sliver -level Bicycle Friendly Community designation, the highest
ranking achieved by any city in Iowa. However, Iowa City also recognizes that many residents face a variety of
challenges preventing them from bicycling as much as they would like to To help address these challenges, Iowa City is
creating a ong-range bicycle master plan to make bicycling safer, easier, and more accessible for people of all ages and
abilities.

Sample Comments:
• A trail along Hwy 6 around the medical campus would
provide a less steep incline than the access road by Carver
Hawkeye Arena.
• Highland is a wide boulevard... It's a blank slate that we can
use for bike traffic.
• I would like a protected bike lane on Burlington between
Muscatine and Riverside Dr.
• Riding to the store. Protected/dedicated bike lanes on 1 st
Ave are needed.
• Connect Court Hill Trail to downtown and extend branch of
Iowa River Trail toward downtown.
• Please allow bike access through Hickory Hill to avoid hills
on First Ave and Rochester.
