COMPLETE DESCRIPTION OF COUNCIL ACTIVITIES
JUNE 8, 2017
Iowa City City Council Special meeting, 8:00 a.m. at City Hall. Mayor Throgmorton
presiding. Council Members present: Botchway, Cole, Dickens, Mims, Thomas,
Throgmorton. Absent: Taylor. Staff members present: Fruin, Monroe, Andrew, Dilkes,
Fruehling, Boothroy, Yapp.
Unless otherwise noted, all actions were affirmative and unanimous.
Moved by Mims, seconded by Dickens, that the rule requiring ordinances to be
considered and voted on for final passage at two Council meetings prior to the meeting
at which it is to be finally passed be suspended, the second consideration and vote be
waived, and that Ord. 17-4710, amending Title 17 of the City Code (Building and
Housing) to establish a six and a half month moratorium on the issuance of new
rental permits, and building permits that result in an enlargement of a rental
dwelling, in RS -5, RS -8 and RNS-12 zones within the area generally bounded by
Scott Boulevard on the east, 1-80 on the north, the Iowa River and Mormon Trek
Blvd on the west, and Highways 1/6 on the south in Iowa City, Iowa, be voted on
for final passage at this time. Sally Scott and Bob Welsh appeared. Moved by Mims,
seconded by Botchway, that the ordinance be finally adopted at this time. Moved by
Mims, seconded by Dickens to accept Neighborhood Stabilization power point
presented at 6/6/17 Council meeting.
Moved by Mims seconded by Botchway, to adjourns ecial meeting 8:0 a.m.
