Call to order
Iowa City Mayor Jim Throgmorton called the joint meeting of Johnson County entities to order at 4:30
P.M.

Iowa City Mayor Throgmorton and Iowa City City Council member Cole gave some brief background
information on Markerspace. Steve Miller presented proposal information, data regarding other
Maskerspaces and the benefits of having a Makerspace. Individuals from other entities asked questions
and expressed their views. Mayor Throgmorton stated this was an exploratory discussion and no
decisions would be made.
Crisis Intervention Team Update (CIT) — Johnson County
Board of Supervisors member Green -Douglas and Iowa City Council member Mims spoke to the CIT
training that local law enforcement has been involved with, and an update on the Access Center and the
possible services that could be offered. Mims clarified there has been no commitments from the
University but hoped to have more information after the meeting in November.

Other Updates
Board of Supervisors Chair Rettig gave an update on the new department heads within the County.
Iowa City School Board member Roesler noted the passing of the bond and the projects that will be
starting in the spring of 2018. Board of Supervisors member Green -Douglas also noted the school
bond that was passed by Clear Creek Amana for facilities improvements. Iowa City Mayor
Throgmorton mentioned the Riverfront Crossings Park and Gateway project which are moving right
along and the two director positions open within the City. City of Coralville Mayor Lundell stated
there would be much construction in the Iowa River Landing District and First Avenue.

The next joint meeting will be January 22, 2018, and will be hosted by Coralville.
