IOWA CITY AIRPORT COMMISSION
FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 8, 1991 - 12;00 P.M.
IOWA CITY TRANSIT FACILITY
MEMBERS PRESENT: John Ockenfels, Pat Foster, William Tucker
MEMBERS ABSENT: Robert Hicks, Richard Blum
STAFF PRESENT: Anne Burnside, Ron O'Neil
CALL TO ORDER:
vice-chairperson Ockenfels called the meeting to order at 12:10
p.m. A quorum of the Commission was present.
ITEM FOR DISCUSSION/ACTION:
a. Iowa City Flying Service lease : subcommittee report - Foster
reported that he and Hicks have met with Mr. Jones from ICFS to
discuss the Commission's lease fees proposal. In response to the
Commission's proposal, Jones requested the hangar fees remain the
same as they have been for the past five years and that the
Commission reduce his rent 25%. Jones indicated that he would
prefer to arbitrate the fees as opposed to negotiation with the
Commission.
Because of the unwillingness of ICFS to negotiate, the subcommittee
recommended proceeding with arbitration. Foster recommended that
a professional arbitrator be employed. O'Neil will research the
cost of hiring an arbitrator. Tucker stated there is an
arbitration system operated through the American Bar Association.
He will provide the Commission with information on this system.
Ockenfels moved to proceed with arbitration, subject to
investigation of the costs involved. Foster seconded the motion.
The motion passed 2 - 0, with Tucker abstaining.
ADJOURNMENT:
Foster moved to adjourn the meeting at 12:47 p.m. Ockenfels
secondeid the motion and the meeting was adjourned.
