When I traveled internationally my favorite activity was to find great green spaces to run. Parks allow people of all income levels to enjoy family and friends and offers people affordable options for celebrations. Believe that programming that is affordable and encourages kids and families to move, such as roller skating are things that make Iowa City unique. 6. I've completed reports requiring me to familiarize myself with the comprehensive plan and do in-depth research into neighborhoods in the area. What Is your present knowledge of each advisory board you are interested in?* 1 believe I'm familiar with the basic functions of comrissions in that they are there to do the more in-depth research to make recommendations to City Council regarding their specific topic. The Hstoric Preservation Commission serves to maintain the character of historic neighborhoods in Iowa City to the fullest extent possible through designating new areas/landmarks and recommending actions on specific changes within current historic districts. Generally, the purpose is to pragmatically work to preserve historically significant aspects of the community and balance that wdth safety, property value, and common sense. The Parks and Recreation Commission serves a similar purpose but with respect to parks, playgrounds, and greenspace. The intent is to maAr ize the quality of life for lom City residents through accessibility and equity of parkland In the area.
