5. Experience and/or activities which you feel qualify you for this position:*
I was born and raised in Iowa City and utilized Parks and Rec services by frequenting local parks and taking
classes at the Rec Center. After college I moved away but my husband and I returned when our oldest son was
about 18 months old (in early 2016) because we love Iowa City and wanted to raise our children here. My two
sons are 4 years old and 9 months old and we are visiting local parks more and more and my 4 year old
started taking his first Rec Center class this fall and I know that they will use the Parks and Rec services more
and move over the next several years. I feel that I am qualified for this position as I have a vested interest in
the Parks and Recreation services due to having used them myself as a child and having my young children
now starting to use them. I am very interested in shaping local Parks and Rec plans and policies for my
children and other young folks of Iowa City.
6. What is your present knowledge of each advisory board you are interested in?*
I receive The Park Bench newsletter via e-mail and make sure to read through the Parks and Recreation
Activity Guide each new season. I also try to stay informed on the Master Plan with particular interest in the
City Park Adventure Play area and the East Side Sports Complex plans.

Sarah
I received deployment orders today. I think I must resign my position at the Board of Adjustment. Attached. Unless you
had other thoughts?

This is to let you know that we have no application to review for October and so we have cancelled the meeting.
I hope to see you in November when I will introduce you to Jessica Lile who will be taking my place in overseeing the
BOA. I will likely assist Jessica with her first few meetings. I have moved into a new position in transportation planning
for the City of Iowa City and the Metropolitan Planning Organization of Johnson County.
Best,
Sarah
