Summary of Minutes
February 5, 2019 - 5:00 PM
Iowa City City Council special meeting, held in Emma J. Harvat Hall, 410 E
Washington St. Mayor Throgmorton presiding. Council members present: Cole, Salih,
Taylor, Teague, Thomas, Throgmorton. Absent: Mims. Staff members present: Fruin
Monroe, Andrew, Dilkes, Fruehling.
Unless otherwise noted all actions were affirmative and unanimous.
Moved by Salih, seconded by Taylor, to adjourn to executive session to discuss
strategy with counsel in matters that are presently in litigation or where litigation is
imminent where its disclosure would be likely to prejudice or disadvantage the position
of the governmental body in that litigation; and to discuss as a public employer, strategy
regarding collective bargaining with city employee organizations; as such discussion is
exempt from the provisions of chapter 21. The Mayor declared the motion carried, 6/0,
Mims absent.
Council returned to open session 5:33 p.m.
Moved by Thomas, seconded by Salih, to adjourn special meeting 5:34 p.m. The
Mayor declared the motion carried, 6/0, Mims absent.
